I particularly love this road for its remote feel and connection to the wilderness. While it does feature a significant climb, it's perfect for either mountain or gravel bikes. The road is paved for a short stretch, allowing for hill repeats up to Russell Pond for the true maniacs! Otherwise, it provides a delightful e-bike ride or a challenging gravel adventure.

My route will take us through to Waterville Valley, and I’m excited to guide you there. Along the way, we make a quick stop at the East Pond Trailhead, a prime spot for a break. If you’re up for it, the hike to East Pond is beginner-friendly but with enough incline to keep it interesting, leading to a stunning mountain pond with Mount Osceola and a beautiful ridge framing the valley.

Further along, I pause at the Mount Osceola Trailhead, which offers a quiet spot for lunch with occasional peeks through the trees at the surrounding mountains. This trailhead, complete with restrooms and picnic tables, is a popular starting point for a more strenuous hike offering incredible summit views.

After a brief stop, I begin my descent into Waterville Valley. This part of the ride is technically challenging, despite some paved sections, due to the road's general disrepair. Use caution on the decent!

In Waterville Valley, I take a quick loop through the town square to give you a glimpse of the local scene.

An interesting aspect of Tripoli Road is the campsites dotted along it. They're either free or very inexpensive and operate on a first-come, first-served basis—ideal during the weekdays when there’s often more availability.

Thank you for joining me on this beautiful ride through White Mountain National Forest!
